The fulcrum rests against the neighboring teeth, turning the forceps into a lever so the tooth can be lifted out with controlled force once it has been loosened.

Forceps of this pattern are commonly used for extracting the first and second premolars, and can also be used on other cheek teeth. Available in 13", 16" and 19" lengths to suit the size of the horse and the position of the tooth.

Key Features

The built-in fulcrum provides leverage right at the head, so no separate fulcrum is needed for the final lift.

Serrated jaws bite securely into the crown and resist slipping.

Choose 13" for smaller horses and front cheek teeth, 16" for all-round use, or 19" for full reach and leverage.

Long straight handles give strong control while keeping your hands outside the mouth.

A box-style joint keeps jaw closure smooth and aligned.

Made from corrosion-resistant stainless steel that is easy to clean.

How It's Used

After sedation and a local nerve block, the gingiva is elevated and molar spreaders are used to widen the spaces either side of the tooth. The serrated jaws are seated firmly on the crown and the tooth is loosened with slow, low-amplitude oscillation. Once the tooth is mobile, the fulcrum is positioned against the adjacent teeth and gentle pressure on the handles levers the tooth out of its socket. Avoid twisting, which can fracture the crown.

Ideal For

Equine veterinarians and equine dental technicians

Premolar and cheek tooth extractions

Practitioners who want leverage built into the forceps

Specifications

Specification

Details

Brand

Dr. Tail

SKU

EQI2-13, EQI2-16, EQI2-19

Type

Fulcrum serrated molar extraction forceps

Jaws

Serrated, with integrated fulcrum block

Lengths

13", 16" or 19" (select above)

Material

Stainless steel

Care

Scrub the serrations with a soft brush after each use, rinse and dry completely.
