Three Prong Root Molar Extraction Forceps – Stainless Steel

The Dr. Tail Equine Three Prong Root Molar Extraction Forceps grip the tooth at three points: two prongs on one jaw and a single prong on the other. The two-prong side sits on the outer (cheek) side of the tooth and the single prong on the inner side, matching the alignment of the tooth's roots for a firm, balanced hold that reduces slipping and crown fracture.

How It's Used

With the horse sedated and a local nerve block effective, the gingiva is elevated and molar spreaders are used to widen the interdental spaces. The prongs are then seated firmly on the clinical crown and checked for correct placement. The tooth is loosened with slow, low-amplitude side-to-side oscillation, increasing movement only as it loosens. Avoid twisting the forceps. A molar fulcrum can be used for the final lift.
