The Dr. Tail Equine Long Narrow-Tip Fragment Forceps have slim, parallel jaws that close to a fine, narrow tip. They are built for reaching deep into the mouth to grasp and remove root tips, crown fragments and loose dental debris, including fragments left in or near a socket after a cheek tooth extraction.
Key Features
- Narrow, parallel jaws fit into tight spaces and sockets where standard forceps cannot reach.
- The fine tip holds small fragments precisely.
- Long straight handles reach the caudal cheek teeth with your hands outside the mouth.
- Ringed grips give a secure, controlled hold.
- Made from corrosion-resistant stainless steel that is easy to clean.
How It's Used
Retained root tips are a recognized complication of oral cheek tooth extraction and should be removed to prevent ongoing infection. After a tooth is delivered, the socket and the extracted tooth are inspected to check that all roots are accounted for. Loose fragments are then grasped with the narrow tip and withdrawn gently. Fragments that are still firmly attached may need further elevation first, and complex cases may require a surgical approach.
Ideal For
- Equine veterinarians and equine dental technicians
- Removing retained root tips and crown fragments
- Cleaning up after cheek tooth extractions
