The Dr. Tail Equine Serrated Jaw Molar Forceps have oval, serrated jaws that close around the tooth for a secure grip. The open oval shape cups the crown while the serrations bite in to resist slipping, making them well suited to loose cheek teeth, fractured crowns and larger fragments.

Key Features

  • The oval jaws cup around the crown or fragment for even pressure.
  • Serrated surfaces hold securely on smooth or irregular teeth.
  • Long straight handles give leverage and reach with your hands outside the mouth.
  • A screw joint gives smooth, stable jaw action.
  • Made from corrosion-resistant stainless steel that is easy to clean.

How It's Used

As with all molar forceps, the tooth is prepared first: sedation and a local nerve block, gingival elevation and gradual widening of the interdental spaces with molar spreaders. The serrated jaws are then seated firmly on the crown and the tooth is loosened with slow, low-amplitude oscillation, increasing movement only as it loosens. Avoid twisting, which can fracture the crown.

Ideal For

  • Equine veterinarians and equine dental technicians
  • Loose or fractured cheek teeth
  • Retrieving larger crown fragments
