The Dr. Tail Off Side Three Prong Root Molar Forceps are built for controlled, secure extraction of equine cheek teeth (premolars and molars). The three-prong jaw seats firmly around the tooth, giving a steady grip that reduces slipping and the risk of crown fracture during extraction.

This is the Off Side pattern, designed for the upper right and lower left cheek teeth. For complete coverage of all four arcades, pair it with the Dr. Tail Three Prong Root Molar Forceps, On Side (EQI17) for the upper left and lower right.

Key Features

  • Two prongs on one jaw and one on the other grip the tooth at three points for a secure, balanced hold.
  • Angled for the upper right and lower left cheek teeth.
  • The 19" length gives strong leverage while keeping your hands outside the horse's mouth.
  • Fine knurled grips stay secure even with wet or gloved hands.
  • Rounded handle ends are comfortable during long procedures.
  • A solid pivot joint gives smooth, stable jaw action without wobble.
  • Made from polished stainless steel that is durable, corrosion-resistant and easy to clean.
  • Laser-marked Dr. Tail logo and model number for easy identification in your kit

How It's Used

Three prong molar forceps are typically used once the tooth has been loosened with molar spreaders and elevators. The jaws are placed on the crown at the gum line, and the tooth is worked free with slow, steady rocking pressure rather than a straight pull. A fulcrum can be used for added leverage during the final stage. Equine dental extractions should be performed by a veterinarian or qualified equine dental practitioner, with the horse properly sedated and a full-mouth speculum in place.

Ideal For

  • Equine veterinarians and equine dental technicians
  • Extracting diseased, fractured or loose premolars and molars
  • Building or upgrading a professional equine extraction kit
