The Dr. Tail Equine Four Prong Root Molar Extraction Forceps carry two prongs on each jaw, gripping the tooth at its four corners for a stable, balanced hold that resists slipping and twisting. The symmetrical design can be used on cheek teeth on either side of the mouth.
Available in 13", 16" and 19" lengths. Also see the Dr. Tail Universal Four Root Molar Forceps 19" (EQI18).
Key Features
- Two prongs on each jaw give an even, four-point grip.
- The symmetrical design works on both left and right arcades.
- Shorter sizes suit ponies and front cheek teeth, while longer sizes suit full-size horses and caudal molars.
- Long handles give strong leverage with your hands outside the mouth.
- A solid pivot joint gives smooth, stable action.
- Made from corrosion-resistant stainless steel that is easy to clean.
How It's Used
With the horse sedated and a local nerve block effective, the gingiva is elevated and molar spreaders are used to widen the interdental spaces. The prongs are seated firmly at the corners of the clinical crown, and the tooth is loosened with slow, low-amplitude side-to-side oscillation, increasing movement only as it loosens. Avoid twisting the forceps. A molar fulcrum can be used for the final lift.
Ideal For
- Equine veterinarians and equine dental technicians
- Oral extraction of premolars and molars
- Practices treating horses and ponies of different sizes
