The Dr. Tail Equine End-Cutting Molar Tooth Cutter is a 19" long-handled cutter with jaws that meet edge to edge at the tip. It is designed for cutting away tooth material, such as reducing a prominent overgrowth or removing a sharp, fractured portion of crown, where a clean cut is needed rather than a grip.

Key Features

  • The cutting edges meet squarely at the tip for a clean, controlled cut.
  • At 19" long, the handles multiply cutting force and keep your hands outside the mouth.
  • Ringed grips give a secure, non-slip hold during the cut.
  • A solid screw joint keeps the jaws aligned under load.
  • Made from durable, corrosion-resistant stainless steel that is easy to clean.

How It's Used

Cutters are positioned precisely on the section of tooth to be removed, with the horse sedated and a full-mouth speculum in place, and closed with steady pressure. Equine dental literature notes that cutters can fracture teeth and expose the pulp if too much tooth is removed at once, which is why many practitioners now use motorized equipment for routine reductions. When cutters are used, removing small amounts in stages and assessing the tooth between cuts helps protect the pulp.

Ideal For

  • Equine veterinarians and experienced equine dental practitioners
  • Removing sharp fractured crown fragments
  • Situations where power equipment is not available
