The Dr. Tail Equine Three Prong Molar Extraction Forceps, Offside grip the tooth at three points: two prongs on one jaw and a single prong on the other. The two-prong side sits on the outer (cheek) side of the tooth and the single prong on the inner side, matching the alignment of the roots for a secure hold. This is the offside pattern; three-prong forceps work as a pair, each covering one upper arcade and the diagonally opposite lower arcade.

How It's Used
After sedation and a local nerve block, the gingiva is elevated and molar spreaders are used to widen the spaces around the tooth. The prongs are seated firmly on the crown with the two-prong jaw to the cheek side, and the tooth is loosened with slow, low-amplitude oscillation, increasing movement only as it loosens. Avoid twisting, which can fracture the crown. A molar fulcrum can assist the final lift.
